Attorney Profile

BOARD CERTIFIED BY THE NATIONAL COLLEGE FOR DUI DEFENSE

John T. (Tommy) Kirk’s practice is limited to DUI and other alcohol related offenses. His offices are located in Montgomery, Alabama. Tommy entered law practice in 1972. He was the Municipal Prosecutor for Montgomery until 1980 and left that part-time government position to focus his entire energies on criminal defense. He became President of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and was awarded its highest honor, the Roderick Beddow, Sr. Award, in 1988, for his service to criminal defense.

By the early 1990s, Tommy moved the entire focus of his practice to DUI. He became a Founding Member of the National College for DUI Defense, Inc. and in 1997 became a member of the NCDD’s governing body, the Board of Regents. He is currently serving on the NCDD Board as Dean.

Tommy travels and speaks extensively throughout the nation, having appeared as a seminar speaker in 16 states since 1997. His favorite material, entitled "Perspective" was published in the March 16, 1996 Drinking/Driving Law Letter, Vol. 15, No. 6.

An avid Civil War student, Tommy was the subject of a seminar attendee’s comment... "sounds like General Robert E. Lee speaking."
