When I initially spoke with you about being added to the Lead Counsel program on LawInfo.com, I was somewhat skeptical. Our firm has had its share of disappointments with many other forms of passive “advertising”. In addition, I have been active on a site which I will not for several years with few, if any, referrals from my many postings of free legal information. While my partners were not initially inclined to try LawInfo, I decided to try the service in hopes of getting at least one contact in the year to make back my investment. To be frank, your zealous and enthusiastic support for the program was a large part of the reason why I decided to take the plunge. I now realize how misguided my reservations were.
Over the seven months in which my completed profile has been posted on LawInfo, I have received over 220 inquiries (53 by e-mail and 173 via Toll Free Number tracked calls) from LawInfo. As with client inquiries from any source, I did not end up representing the vast majority of those potential clients. However, I have formed an attorney/client relationship with over thirty-five companies and individuals that I can tie directly to LawInfo. From these clients, I have received over $75,000 in hourly fees and $32,000 in contingency fees in seven months. That number includes neither the continuing work I provide for these clients nor the contingency fees I will likely make from my remaining LawInfo contingency cases. I do not know of any investment in any forum with such good returns.
Those hard numbers are only part of the benefit I receive from your program. Because I get so many potential client inquiries, I have become much more selective in which cases to accept. I refer other good cases to attorneys I respect in my area, and I have received cross-referrals from those attorneys for cases they cannot handle. In one instance, I have received three good case referrals from an attorney who had never sent a case to me before I started referring my overflow cases to him.
As I indicated above, my partners initially decided against listing with LawInfo. One partner signed up with another company in a single practice area in a small metropolitan city. The only e-mail or phone call he has received as a result of this one-year association was from me, trying to make sure that the listing worked. My other partner signed up with yet another program, and he has received about a dozen calls in over a year, and he has not taken a single case from that service. One of these partners has since signed up with LawInfo, and his success with the program seems to mirror mine.
On a personal note, you have been wonderful throughout my association with your company. You timely answered every question I have had, you did not push me to sign up before I was ready, and you delivered on every promise you made. You certainly fit the mold of “business partner” showing me how your service can help my practice rather than “pushy salesperson” only interested in closing the deal. Keep up the good work!
